FRIENDSHIP SQUARE QUILT GUILD
Friendship Square Quilt Guild began in 1981 when a group of women decided to form a guild to share their common interest in quilting. Now our membership totals more than 80 members and we showcase our work every other year at our Quilt Show which attracts hundreds of attendees. Our ancestors would be proud of how we have carried on the tradition of quilt making, America’s earliest artisan craft.
Our monthly meetings are held at the La Habra United Methodist Church and feature a speaker who offers special knowledge about the art of quilt making. This is followed the next day with a workshop for members to learn new skills.
Throughout the year we give back to the community by giving our hand crafted quilts to wounded veterans, organizations serving the homeless population, “at risk” children and local breast cancer patients. We also provide handmade pillowcases and beads of courage bags to children in pediatric cancer units at CHOC and CHLA, In December each year we give several worthy local organizations quilts and a cash donation. We also support the La Habra Collaborative Center with a food drive and The La Habra Holiday Wishes program with gifts.
We are proud to be part of the La Habra Community and especially enjoy seeing the smiles when one of our quilts is received.
